SUN RUN     Weekend Activities  Trophies  Sponsorship  Programme

The weekend is for Older Explorers and Senior Section Guides (Aged 14 and over) Scout Network, Leaders, Fellowship etc to participate in a national event where the emphasis is on having fun and working together - all at reasonable cost.

VENUE - Rushbury Court Farm, Cleeve Hill, near Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, GL54 5AE. Grid Ref: SO 991 280. Easy access from all areas of the Uk, via the M5 motorway. Cheltenham has a railway station and airport (and airport - if you have small plane or helicopter!! ).The 16-acre site overlooks the beautiful Severn Valley and the Malvern Hills

Saturday Activities

Then throughout Saturday, you can enjoy your own "Glastonbury" There will be venues for entertainers,Theatre Groups, Craft Stalls, Competitions, Sports, Gladiator Games, Euro Bungee, Fair ground rides, arena displays and much, much more!


Then On Saturday Night The Sun Run or Moon Run:

As dusk falls, the air comes alive with the sound of Bagpipes escorting the Sun Runners at the start of the Sun Run.

The aim of the event is to watch the sun set from the Cleeve Hill then Race, Stoll, Skip and Hop, or Crawl round the route recent circular route starting and finishing at the site, in time to see the sun rise, now a full marathon distance 26.2 miles later.

You can chose between the Full length Sun Run or the Shorter 13 mile

Please ensure that you choose a route suitable to your groups capabilities – it may be better to choose the moon run and gain the satisfaction of a certificate rather than wait around for the formality of a minibus back to site !

Notes & Rules:

* Teams to consist of a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 people.

* You must stay together and or stay with another group, this is your safety
anyone running/walking with less than 3 people together is unsafe and will be disqualified.

* There are regular checkpoints all in communication with control.

* Drinks at the checkpoints.

* Food at checkpoint four (Sun Run)

* Runners must wear reflective clothing and carry basic items of kit.

For Those Less energetic there is a disco with Bar throughout the evening at the campsite, where you can follow the progress of the race.

After a "good nights sleep" we have the presentations.

An information booklet will be sent to each team on receipt of entry form and payment.

Trophies are awarded for the fastest team in each category; if the teams are not in a category listed below then they will be "unclassified"

OVERALL :- Any Team can win this award (but they must be the quickest!!)

JUNIOR :- Aged 17 and under (Male/Female/Mixed)

SENIOR :- Aged 18 - 30 (Male/Female/Mixed)

VETERAN :- Aged 31 and over

GROUP :- Time will be taken as the average of the first 6 members back from any one group/unit, ie. more from than one team
